Heart RateUpdated 7 days ago

Overview

• Heart rate is the number of beats per minute (BPM). Heart rate is tracked using light sensors on the device that shine light onto your skin and measure changes in blood flow with each heartbeat. These signals are analysed by the device to calculate your heart rate in beats per minute (BPM).

Detailed Explanation

• Your heart beats about 100,000 times a day, speeding up during activity and slowing down at rest. Heart rate, measured in beats per minute, can indicate your cardiovascular health.

• Maximum heart rate is the highest heart rate achieved during exercise when the workload increases. It indicates the point at which oxygen consumption and heart rate can no longer rise. This is essential for evaluating heart function and exercise intensity. You can estimate your maximum heart rate with this formula:

• Maximum Heart Rate = 220 - Age.

Heart Rate Zones

• Warm-up: 50% - 60% of maximum heart rate. Ideal for dynamic warm-ups before running and cool-downs afterward.

• Fat-burning:61% - 70% of maximum heart rate. The body primarily burns fat for energy, helping to reduce body fat.

• Aerobic: 71% - 80% of maximum heart rate. Carbohydrates become the main energy source, effectively improving cardiovascular fitness.

• Anaerobic: 81% - 90% of maximum heart rate. This zone leads to increased lactic acid tolerance and helps improve performance.

• Extreme: 91% - 100% of maximum heart rate. The heart works at its hardest; suitable for experienced athletes.
