Setting up your profile for accurate readingsUpdated an hour ago

The app will request your Gender, Weight, Height, Walking Step Length and Running Step Length. If you do not know your Walking / Running Step Length, the app will generate this based on your height input. These metrics are essential for the ring to provide accurate data. Here's why:

Gender: Calorie and metabolic rate calculations use different constants for men and women, reflecting average differences in muscle mass and metabolic rate. If you do not select your gender this will default to the preset gender. Calorie burn estimates may run high or low depending on your actual physiology.

Weight: Weight is a direct input into calorie burn calculations. Moving a heavier body costs more energy than moving a lighter one, for both resting (BMR) and active calories. It's arguably the single biggest lever on calorie accuracy; even a few kg off can meaningfully skew daily totals.

Height: Height feeds into BMR alongside weight, and it's used to estimate a default stride length if you haven't set one manually. On its own it has a smaller effect than weight, but it also acts as a sanity check for other calculations (like pace/distance) when your personal stride values aren't provided.

Walking Step Length: Distance and pace while walking are calculated by multiplying your step count by your stride length. If this defaults to a population average, your distance and pace readings can be off, especially if you're notably taller/shorter than average or have a longer/shorter natural stride.

Running Step Length: Running stride is significantly longer than walking stride, so it needs its own value rather than reusing the walking one. Without it, distance and pace during runs are estimated using either the walking stride or a generic running average, which can meaningfully under- or overstate how far and how fast you actually ran.

If you missed this introductory set up screen, go to My Profile in the settings tab on the app and enter your Gender, Weight, Height, Walking Step Length, and Running Step Length.
